We are beginning to see a glimmer of the rainbow after a long, stormy year of pandemic. Having been quarantined for so long has been a real yin/yang experience for most of us. While we could no longer go to art museums or galleries to get inspired, one way we were able to compensate was by turning to our art book libraries to fill the gap. Books we have had around for years were reexamined with treasures found therein—treasures we skimmed over in our previous pre-pandemic lives. What a pleasure it is to sit and spend quiet hours with a favorite great artist’s work and really absorb the author’s thoughtful assessments of the artist’s oeuvre and intentions. We have six volumes on Joaquin Sorrolla alone! This past year we delved into them in greater detail than we ever had time for before. We learned some things we hadn’t known about his life and work, enriching our own experiences.
