The devastation to Asheville and western North Carolina from Hurricane Helene (September 2024) has been apocalyptic. Even with the massive influx of aid workers, it will take years to rebuild into the vibrant arts community it was. In the meantime, although the basic necessities of clean water, passable roads and electricity are being restored, the livelihood of artists dependent on the trade and tourism of Asheville is gone. They could use our help.

Three years ago, we interviewed Cindy Wheeler, an artist now experiencing the heartbreaking havoc wreaked by Helene and looking to the uncertainty of being an artist in Asheville - Voices of Experience: Cindy Wheeler.
