Celebrating Animals in Art
Perspectives from The Artist's Road
Aunt Betsy’s View - House Sparrows
Acrylic Elwin van der Kolk (The Netherlands)
The Society of Animal Artists has mounted its first virtual ehibition. It features the juried work of artists outside of the United States and is a celebration of the fauna of the world as rendered by artists from Kenya, Sri Lanka, France, Lithuania, Scotland, Canada, New Zealand—55 artists from 19 countries. The world of animal and wildlife art is sometimes seen as a separate genre altogether, but in these works, we see not only very accomplished highly technical representations, but also many ethereal works of art with mood and atmosphere in unusual compositions and perspectives.
We thought you might enjoy seeing a few of our favorites. To see the entire virtual show, go to The Society of Animal Artists 2020 Internation Exhibition.
