James Gurney’s Color and Light: A Guide for the Realist Painter has been called the best contemporary color reference book available. We had the opportunity to work with James at the 2014 SKB Foundation Workshop in Wyoming. His knowledge of color and light effects is phenomenal.
Color Choices: Making Color Sense Out of Color Theory by Stephen Quiller was put forward as an essential color reference and color theory course with exercises. Quiller also authored Painter’s Guide to Color among several other books.
