Thomas P. Campbell, Director of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, has written about some of the many ways that the National Endowment for the Arts benefits both the Met, the largest museum in the country, as well as cultural programs and establishments in every single state. One crucial program administered by the NEA that we had not been aware of is the Arts and Artifacts Indemnity Program. It is responsible for making many of the “blockbuster” museum exhibitions that have been enjoyed by hundreds of thousands of people possible.
