In a recent interview on our local public radio station, author David McCullough talked about the arduous research he performs in order to get all the details right in his historical books. He spoke about the importance that art has had in enabling him to see those details:

“I’ve always been very interested in painting and drawing. I love it. I’ve done it all my life. I took a great many courses in drawing and painting and I think that anyone who wants to write seriously, as a student, ought to do that, because it teaches you to look at things and to see things in proportion and in relationship. I don’t think you can understand someone if you don’t understand where they came from and what the world that they lived in was like to their eyes and in their eyes.”

As artists, we are capturing the world around us today, the objects and fleeting moments of our lives - perhaps leaving clues for the future about our live…
