One of the reasons we are passionate about traveling to paint is that we always seem to have adventures and meet interesting people. Chance encounters while on the road can often lead to interesting painting subjects. While traveling to Dubois, Wyoming for the Susan K. Black Foundation Workshop this September, we came across the world-famous Cannonball Endurance Cross Country Run for antique motorcycles.
We had heard of the biennial motorcycle competition from friends who had participated as support crew two years before, but were not aware of the dates or routes of the current event and didn’t anticipate crossing paths with it. We first noticed the support vehicles pulling custom trailers emblazoned with colorful decals as we cruised down the interstate, but saw no motorcycles anywhere.
