The bold brushwork and vivid colors of Ann Larsen’s paintings bring to the viewer a strong sense of the moment in which the landscape was witnessed. She captures the brilliant essences of her subjects. Larsen writes: “I strive to create a feeling of time and place in each painting.” Currently residing in upstate New York, Larsen has lived all over the United States. We asked her about the development of her love of landscape painting.
From Kentucky to Oklahoma to Colorado—you experienced a lot of different landscapes while growing up. Did they influence you or help to inspire you to be an artist?
