Roger Dale Brown’s study of history, nature and architecture provides a strong foundation for his oil paintings. He travels extensively, finding inspiration in the coastal fishing villages of the eastern seaboard and the dramatic beauty of Wyoming, Idaho and Montana He enjoys the different sets of challenges inherent in painting such a diversity of landscapes. Brown believes that plein air painting is essential to his art and spends about 40% of his painting time outdoors. When working in the studio on still life compositions, he also prefers to paint from life, believing that memory and photographs are poor substitutes.

Roger Dale Brown’s paintings are displayed in galleries throughout the United States and have won numerous awards. His paintings are represented in many art publications. In addition to painting, Brown shares his knowledge teaching workshops throughout the country.
