Following up on our Working on Commission article, we wanted to show you a different format for working with a client on commission. In this case, the client wished to pick from images John had taken photographically from a painting trip to France. John found it most useful to use Photoshop to quickly create mock-ups working with composition and colors. (See the previous article for five guidelines on creating custom-ordered artwork for a client.)
A European Dream
This is an example of the mock-up process for a large oil commission whose subject is the landscape of France. This entire process was carried off through my gallery representative long distance—I never met my clients face to face, or even spoke directly with them.
