An Armchair Tour of
Charleston, South Carolina

Charleston is perhaps the loveliest little artist-friendly city in the U.S. With its human-scaled colonial-era and antebellum houses and its many steepled churches dominating the skyline, it has all the look and feel of a small European town. We love to paint in the historic downtown area which is filled with restored pre-civil war era grand houses and mansions, gardens and intriguing narrow cobble-stone side streets lined with palm trees, flowers and other tropical delights. There are horse-drawn carriages and harbor-side parks filled with huge Live Oaks draped with Spanish Moss, and lots of boats and other marine scenery to paint.  We have been returning to Charleston to paint for 28 years and never get tired of its beauty and world-class food. That's why we are offering workshops there.Take a mini-tour now.

Filled with inspirational examples by the masters of nightime painting, this little book is sure to fire up your creative energies. Never tried painting at night? We show you how it's done with a step-by-step-oil demo and a tale of night painting in the wilds of Rocky Mountain National Park. The Primer on Night Painting - Nocturnes is a 7 x 7" PDF download with 40 pages of text and images. It includes a gallery of paintings by masters of the nocturne, information to inspire and encourage you in your plein air nocturne painting, an illustrated step-by-step demo and tips for working in pastel and oil.
