The watercolor painting, Tinder Alight, by Ye Wang was featured in our recent article, Consumed by Fire. Ye Wang is one of several Midwestern artists who regularly photograph and paint the prescribed fires of the Flint Hills each spring. Wang was kind enough to send us a step-by-step demonstration on how he created this powerful work of a very difficult subject. Here is the painting in six steps with an introduction by Ye Wang.

“I moved to Kansas from Windsor, Canada in 2004 for a job. There is not much of attractions here. But when you have stayed long enough, you will find lots of beauties in nature and fall in love with it.
