In our ongoing fascination with the paintings that artists create from their own gardens, we highlight this week the work of Jim McVicker. Although inspiration can be found far and wide, many of us have found “diamonds in own backyard”. There can be great creative benefits to painting a more intimate and personal world throughout the changes of light and season. And, gardens are a challenging subject—just the variation of greens in garden foliage can be daunting!

We had the opportunity to interview Jim in 2014 and wanted to check in with him again, specifically to update with images painted from his own garden (and the community garden near him). You can read that interview and see more of his work here:  Voices of Experience - Jim McVicker. Be sure to also visit McVicker's website:  Jim McVicker Fine Art to see more of his garden, landscape, figurative and still life work.
